First Team - Barnsley Ladies FC

Away | 07 October 2018

Burton Albion Ladies FC would crash out of the FA Women’s National League Plate Cup competition to Barnsley Ladies FC. One positive was Charlotte Jarvis making her debut for the first team after being promoted from the reserves, and fully taking advantage of her first start in the first team with a thirty yard strike being hit by Charlotte Jarvis and the Barnsley Ladies FC goalkeeper misjudging the bounce, and it went over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Unfortunately Charlotte Jarvis had to come off in the thirty fourth minute with a knock, we were also very unlucky at two one down as we hit the crossbar and was unfortunate to not be back in the game at that point. We move on to the league and with a  week off next week the ladies get a much needed rest, and a time to regroup after a heavy load of fixtures at the beginning of the season. Interim first team manager Ryan Hamilton gave me a reflective opinion after the game:

“Lots of positives to take away from today’s game, we battled well but ultimately Barnsley moved the ball well and played to our weakness of being tired after a tough midweek game, and in the last fifteen minutes the game got away from us.
