New Manager Appointed

18 August 2017

Burton Albion Ladies FC are delighted to announce Jack White's appointment as first team manager.

The new manager brings a wealth of experience in the women's game to Brewers Ladies, having previously coached at Women's Super League 2 side Aston Villa Ladies and Derby County Ladies.

With kick off to the new 2017/18 season on Sunday, as they face Leicester City Ladies, White is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

He said: "I'm very pleased to be here. This is a team on the rise, it's been proven.

"Now they're in the Premier League, it's an exciting time to be here."

White's CV speaks for itself, including a number of years working in the United States of America where he coached elite girls.

He aims to bring knowledge to the club, having earmarked his experience with girls coming through the ranks.

As the Brewers Ladies have a younger squad, he believes that he can get the best out of them as they look ahead to their first season in the Women's Premier League.

White said: "What I hope I can bring is knowledge of the challenge ahead.

"It's nice to see all the young players here. I've worked with the youngsters, with the Aston Villa Under-17's and then with the development team so we're used to working with players at this age and hopefully we can get the best out of them

White will be joined by a new-look coaching team of Jack Peel, who will be assistant manager, and Kane Darkes, fitness coach.

Peele worked with White at Villa Ladies' development team and has also coached in the club's academy, while Darkes spent last season with Liverpool Ladies in WSL 1.

Existing coach Andy O'Connor will remain as a coach with the senior side.

Departing manager Adam Smallman commented: "I'm delighted to welcome Jack to the club.

"His background in the women's game and history in player development was a key point in the boards selection.

"I wish him and the club all the best for the season ahead."
