Burton Albion Ladies have completed the signing of Sophia Bonser from Derby County Ladies in time for Sunday’s trip to Sheffield to play Steel City Wanderers.

Bonser is no stranger to Brewers’ manager Jack White with the pair having worked together at Derby County before both made the switch to Aston Villa of Women’s Super League 2.

“I’m delighted to be linking up with Sophia again,” said White. “She’s an exciting player who will add to our talented squad.”

The 18-year-old attacker will be hoping to make her Brewers debut this weekend and could be joined by Hannah Baines - following the approval of her international clearance.

Despite signing for the club in January, Baines has been unable to take part in matches while the paperwork required to complete her move from Italian side Catania was processed.

White said: “We’re excited to finally be able to get Hannah on the pitch. She’s been very patient over recent weeks and has trained extremely well.”

Baines boasts an impressive list of previous clubs having also played in New Zealand with Fencibles United and for the University of Northern Ohio in the United States of America.

“Hannah is a great role model to all young female footballers. Her talent and commitment has given her the opportunity to gain a university education and travel the world.

"We’re not only pleased that she’s joined the club because she’s a good player, we also believe that it will be great for our junior team’s players to have Hannah around to look up to.”
